Alphonso Mango, also known as Hapus, is widely regarded as the king of Indian mangoes. Known for its irresistible sweetness, rich fragrance, and fibreless flesh, this variety is highly sought after, particularly during its peak season.

Key Features:

Taste & Flavour: Sweet, aromatic, and exceptionally fragrant with a fibreless, deep yellow flesh.

Juice: Moderate to abundant.

Appearance: Medium-sized, yellow-colored fruit with a medium-thick skin.

Shape: Ovate oblique.

Growing Regions:

Alphonso mangoes are predominantly grown in the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Gujarat, India. At Indian Mangoes, we ensure our mangoes are sourced exclusively from these regions to guarantee premium export-grade quality.

Availability: Early-April to end of May.

Handling & Shelf Life:

Delicate Nature: Alphonso mangoes are extremely temperamental and sensitive to weather changes, making them delicate and difficult to handle.

Shelf Life: Mangoes will be ripe or nearly ripe upon pickup and can last 3-4 days from purchase. Once fully ripe, they can be stored in the fridge to prolong freshness.

Important Considerations:

Spongy Tissue: Alphonso mangoes are prone to a genetic issue called spongy tissue, where certain parts of the flesh fail to ripen. While extensive research has been done to detect it early, it remains difficult to fully eliminate this condition. Though we conduct thorough testing before importing, it is not always possible to avoid. As such, Alphonso mangoes are sold “AS IS”.

Size & Count: The box typically contains 12 mangoes, but size and count may vary depending on the season’s crop. The fruit’s size can fluctuate due to factors like ripening rate and nature of the fruit. Weight loss of 2-5% daily is common due to the ripening process.
